MARTIN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HOST ANNUAL CAREER ACADEMY SHOWCASE ON FEBRUARY 26
WHO: Martin County students currently enrolled in grades 8 -11, parents/guardians, District teachers and administrators.
WHAT: 2020 Career Academy Showcase
The Martin County School District’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs and Career and Professional Education (CAPE) academies will present the annual “Career Academy Showcase” on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. The event will be held inside the South Fork High School gymnasium and all high school career academy programs will be represented. Teachers and students will provide demonstrations and explanations about their academies while answering families' questions about what makes CTE programs so valuable. The Showcase provides parents and students the opportunity to learn more about the many career academies offered by the District so they can make informed schedule choices as they begin thinking about high school.
Students enrolled in career academies are eligible to earn articulated college credit hours at Indian River State College, and also have the opportunity to earn professional industry certifications while still in high school. Students enrolled in the District's CTE academies typically graduate at higher rates than students who are not enrolled in these programs, and students who earn industry certifications have (on average) higher GPAs than students who are not participating in CTE academies.
