On Sunday, Feb. 24, the 13th Annual Lundin Kudo Empty Bowls Project will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Woman’s Club of Stuart, 729 East Ocean Blvd. The event honors the late ceramic artist Lundin Kudo and raises money to fight hunger in Martin County.
Enjoy a serving of savory soup and locally baked bread served in hand-crafted bowls created by noted local artists. Keep the bowl of your choice in exchange for a $20 donation. All proceeds benefit Treasure Coast Food Bank and Mary’s Kitchen.
Restaurants providing soup for this year’s Lundin Kudo Empty Bowls event are: Chef’s Table of Stuart, Conchy Joe’s Seafood, Dolphin Bar & Shrimp House, East Ocean Bistro, Giuseppe’s Italian Grill, Ground Floor Farm, Healthy Harvest Catering, Kazu, Osceola Street Café, and The Gafford.
While these servings of soup make a hearty meal, the Empty Bowls Project raises awareness that 1 in 7 people on the Treasure Coast are food-insecure, uncertain where their next meal will come from.
The event also features the Mae Slaton auction of “souper” bowls. Bids on the exceptional pieces created by well-known clay artists provide an additional opportunity to feed hungry people in Martin County.
The project would not be possible without support from The Woman’s Club of Stuart, Clay Habit Studio, Gail McCarthy Studio, Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery and School of Art, OldMoonClay.com, Pottery by Alex, Sculpture House, Stuart Ceramics Painting Studio and Publix.
