Who? Compress & Shock Foundation (https://www.compressandshock.org or https://www.facebook.com/CompressAndShock/). We are a small, volunteer-based non-profit founded in Roanoke, Virginia in 2016. Our mission is to bring the life-saving skills of chest compressions and early AED use to everyone! Our goal on May 18th is to train 1000 individuals around the country.
What? We are providing FREE, one hour CPR & AED training to anyone ages 13 and older. Participant does not need to be a member of the YMCA.
Where? YMCA OF THE TREASURE COAST (STUART)
1700 SE Monterey Rd, Stuart, FL 34996
When? May 18th, 2019 Training time slots: 9am, 10:30am, 12:00pm
Why? Sudden cardiac death can happen anywhere, anytime. Survival in cardiac arrest is decided by the public as every minute without CPR or use of a defibrillator decreases survival by 10% (average EMS response time is 6 minutes in a city, longer in rural areas).
Only through public education will we see survival rates improve beyond the current 5%.
