Songs For A New World at The Barn Theatre, May 11th ? May 28th
Four sensational vocalists and a six-piece orchestra grace the stage as the Barn rounds out its 52nd Season with its presentation of a musical from Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown. Songs for a New World examines life, love, and the choices we make, and does so with joy, poignancy, and passion. As Composer Brown said, ?It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back, or following a dream.? Songs takes us on a journey from the past to the present where we meet an array of characters standing on the precipice of change. From the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to the ledge of a windowsill on the 57th floor of a Fifth Avenue Street skyscraper, and from a young man who determined basketball is his meal ticket to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams...and a soulless marriage. As Time Out New York wrote, Songs is ?funny...heart-twisting...shot through with wit, intelligence, and enthusiasm for life's crazy possibilities.?
