Surviving as a Working Artist: Singer/Songwriter Workshop with Walter Parks

When surviving as a working artist, there is a checklist of what one must understand when pursuing a career in the arts. Join legendary singer/songwriter Walter Parks as he shares the ins and outs of surviving as a working artist in today's world. Topics include Walter's experience with over 25 years of extensive touring in the U.S. and Europe, the ability to play with a unique style that translates into job security, becoming an effective sideman or band/team player, getting and keeping "The Gig", and how not to second guess one's career choice. In addition, Walter will perform several of his own southern-tinged compositions which are inspired by America’s rich original forms – the blues and jazz. He will also perform some popular songs by other artists, with his own interpretation.

There are limited seats available for this workshop. All who attend the workshop will RECEIVE A FREE TICKET to Walter Parks' 7pm performance of Swamp by Chandelier - Spirituals Reimagined. Ages 16 and older are welcome to attend.

Proudly presented by The Arts Council of Martin County and The Lyric Theatre.
