She’ll highlight the pressures of work and societal expectations and the silent suffering many women endure due to stigma, fear, and/or the pressure to seem in total emotional control, a trait of what she terms “perfectly hidden depression.” Through the telling of her own story -- from professional singer to clinical psychologist -- she’ll emphasize the importance of understanding the impact of the past on the present, risking transparency, and learning to challenge constant self-criticism. These constitute three vital steps in healing depression and discovering true self acceptance.
