Dear Fellow Floridian,
Florida is proud to be the home of Venezuelan Americans whose families fled Nicolás Maduro’s oppression for the freedom and opportunity that come with being an American citizen. Both as your Governor and now as your U.S. Senator, I have proudly fought alongside you for a new day of freedom and democracy in Venezuela.
This week, that hard work paid off as we celebrated President Trump, Secretary Rubio, Secretary Hegseth, and our troops’ incredible work to bring us one step closer by arresting Maduro and ensuring he will be held accountable for his crimes. Together, we celebrated — first in a press conference in Doral. Then, with a resolution commending the U.S. military for this successful operation and the Trump administration for their leadership in this fight for a freer and more secure Western Hemisphere.
When I spoke with María Corina Machado earlier this week, I also expressed my thanks on behalf of all of us for her and Edmundo González’s work to stand up for freedom in Venezuela, and we both agreed that none of this would be possible without President Donald Trump’s decisive leadership and peace-through-strength agenda. Now, the people of Venezuela are closer than ever to peace and freedom, but our work has just begun!

Senators Rick Scott and John Fetterman announced the introduction of the Disclosing Investment in Foreign Adversaries Act to provide transparency for Americans into investments made by American private equity firms into countries of concern, such as Russia or Communist China, so Americans are not unknowingly investing their hard-earned savings and retirement funds into U.S. adversaries. The legislation addresses this problem by requiring private equity, mutual funds, and ETFs to annually disclose the percentage of any assets invested in countries like China to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); requiring the SEC to publicly release a report of firms investing assets in countries of concern and the percentage of those invested assets; and requiring entities selling stock in the private markets to disclose the recipient of the investment, the intended location of the investment, and the investment’s intended purpose.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Our adversaries, like Communist China and Russia, benefit from the current status quo that grants them a complete lack of transparency, and currently, our financial markets enable and often help fund their bad behavior. These foreign adversaries lie, cheat, steal, and abuse their own people using the power of American investment dollars, and without public disclosure and accountability, they can get away with it. I am proud to lead this bill to provide Americans transparency on how their savings are being invested, and which companies and regimes they may be supporting. We have to stop sending Americans’ hard-earned dollars to fuel our enemies’ hate against us.”

Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem praising their leadership and the Trump administration’s actions to improve roadway safety by cracking down on the reckless issuance of commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) to illegal aliens after the deadly crash in Florida caused by an illegal alien who was issued a CDL license in California. The administration’s life-saving actions to keep our roadways safe and ensure only qualified drivers operate commercial vehicles on America’s roadways as federal audits and enforcement operations uncovered widespread safety failures by states issuing CDLs to illegal and unqualified drivers.

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces Bill to Designate Anti-Communism Week and Honor Victims of Communist Regimes
Senator Rick Scott announced the introduction of legislation to designate the first week of every November as Anti-Communism Week and request an annual presidential proclamation recognizing the victims of communist regimes worldwide. This bill builds on President Trump’s 2025 Anti-Communism Week proclamation and reinforces America’s commitment to freedom, liberty, and dignity across the globe. Senator Marsha Blackburn is a cosponsor in the Senate. Companion legislation is being led in the House of Representatives by Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Communism is one of the most destructive and deadly ideologies in human history, responsible for the suffering and deaths of millions while crushing freedom wherever it takes hold. As a nation founded on liberty and individual freedoms, we must never forget these horrors or allow dangerous ideals to be repackaged, idealized, or sold to future generations. Designating Anti-Communism Week serves as a reminder of this evil ideology and reaffirms America’s unwavering commitment to freedom and opportunity for all.”

Sen. Rick Scott Celebrates Trump Admin’s Arrest of Dictator Nicolás Maduro in Miami: ‘Today is a New Day of Freedom for Venezuela’

Senator Rick Scott led a press conference in Doral following the successful arrest of Venezuelan narco-terrorist and dictator Nicolás Maduro thanks to the Trump administration’s decisive actions to deliver freedom and democracy in Venezuela. This follows Senator Scott’s years -long efforts standing alongside the Venezuelan people in their fight for freedom and democracy against the illegitimate regime led by Nicolás Maduro and his thugs.
Senator Rick Scott said, “It’s incredible to see the community come together with such excitement for the future of Venezuela. For years now, I have been fighting alongside the people of Venezuela as they fought for freedom and this is a new day, a new opportunity to achieve that. I’d like to thank President Trump, Secretary Rubio, Secretary Hegseth for their incredible feat to finally arrest Nicolás Maduro and ensure he can face justice here in the United States. This is a clear example of Trump’s peace through strength agenda in action.
“Nicolás Maduro is an evil drug trafficker and cartel leader who was sending drugs into our nation and killing hundreds of thousands of Americans, and stolen freedom and resources from the people of Venezuela for years. Now, the people of Venezuela are closer than ever to peace and freedom thanks to the actions of President Trump and incredible fighters like María Corina Machado and Edmundo González. From day one, President Trump has held Maduro accountable -- cutting off his resources, reversing Biden’s appeasement policies and oil license, designating violent cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, and initiating targeted strikes to stop the flow of drugs across our border. The world will be better off now that Maduro is out of power. I am proud to stand with the Venezuelan people and all of Latin America in celebrating this momentous occasion.”

Sen. Rick Scott: One Year After the Palisades Fire, Residents Still Await Accountability and Answers
Senators Rick Scott and Ron Johnson released the below statements on the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire. Senator Rick Scott, chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, and Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), continue to lead an ongoing congressional investigation into the January 2025 wildfires.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Today marks one year since the Palisades Fire ravaged homes, businesses, and tragically took the lives of 12 people. A year later, victims are still struggling to rebuild their homes and lives, and they have virtually no answers or accountability from local and state officials.
“I have spent the last several months talking to victims of the Palisades Fire, holding hearings, and giving voice to victims who feel like they’re being ignored or left behind. Despite billions of tax dollars being sent to California to help with fire prevention and recovery, we’ve heard these victims describe how state and local officials failed to protect or prepare for these fires, and how bureaucratic roadblocks and indecision have prevented them and their friends and neighbors from rebuilding their lives. Victims reported that fire hydrants ran dry, and many were left on their own to fight or flee as the fires tore through their neighborhoods. Even now, a year later, they face obstacle after obstacle, even from their own state and local governments and the insurance companies they paid for coverage, in their journey to rebuild.
“This is why Chairman Johnson and I launched our investigation: to get answers for the victims of the Palisades Fire and the American people, and to hold state and local officials accountable so this tragedy does not happen again. Together, Chairman Johnson and I have sent multiple letters to federal, state, and local officials seeking information on California’s preparedness, mitigation, and response failures — including prevention efforts, prescribed burns, arson investigations, and overall disaster response and recovery. Since our investigation opened, we have reviewed thousands of documents regarding the response to the fire. We recently held a hearing in the Palisades to hear directly from victims, and we will soon hold a hearing in D.C. to hear from witnesses on what went wrong in the Palisades.
“We need to get to the bottom of this tragedy, hold those who failed to protect the people of California from these devastating fires responsible, and bring accountability for the billions of American taxpayer dollars sent to California for fire prevention and recovery. We will continue to dig and fight until we have the answers the victims and the American people deserve.”

Senator Rick Scott, chairman of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, announced the committee’s priorities under his leadership for the upcoming year. Building on a historic first year that delivered real results for America’s seniors, the committee will sharpen its focus on four core pillars: accountability, affordability, transparency, and safety -- ensuring every senior in America can answer “yes” when asked, “Are you well?”
Chairman Rick Scott said, “I’m proud of what we have accomplished as a committee so far, but our work is far from done. Right now, aging Americans are still facing serious challenges, including America’s overreliance on foreign-manufactured generic drugs, often made in facilities with little oversight or accountability that could put us all at risk. This year, everything we do as a committee will be laser-focused on demanding accountability, affordability, transparency, and safety for our seniors. Together, we will work to secure our generic drug supply chain so that no American has to worry about the safety of their medicine cabinet, and we will ensure critical programs like those supported by the Older Americans Act continue to deliver for those who rely on them most.
“Throughout my career in health care, as Governor of Florida, and now as a U.S. Senator, standing up for America’s seniors has always been a top priority, and as chairman of this committee, I look forward to continuing our bipartisan work with President Trump and my colleagues to build on the incredible progress to Make Washington Work and ensure Americans can age with dignity, independence, and security, this year and for generations to come.”

Senator Rick Scott introduced a resolution commending the United States military for its recent action in Venezuela with the arrest of indicted narco-terrorist dictator Nicolás Maduro. The resolution praises the operation’s precision and the Trump administration’s leadership in the fight for a more free and secure Western Hemisphere paving the way for a democratic Venezuela. Senators Tommy Tuberville, Cynthia Lummis, John Curtis, Eric Schmitt, Ted Budd, Katie Britt, Mike Rounds, Tom Cotton, Marsha Blackburn, Kevin Cramer, Markwayne Mullin, and Ted Cruz are cosponsors of the resolution.
Senator Rick Scott said, “This decisive mission demonstrated American strength and resolve, arrested an indicted narco-terrorist who has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, and sent a clear message that the United States will no longer tolerate criminal regimes that endanger American families, especially in our hemisphere. A Latin America free of socialist and communist rule is in the best interest of the United States, and that’s why for years, I have fought alongside the people of Venezuela to restore their God-given freedom and liberty. It’s incredible to see the community come together with such gracious excitement for the future of their nation. Thank you, President Trump, Secretary Rubio, and Secretary Hegseth, for fighting for the Venezuelan people. I am proud to stand with them and all of Latin America in celebrating this incredible occasion.”

Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Roger Marshall and Congressman Troy Nehls in introducing the bicameral Public Charge Clarification Act to codify the President Trump’s first term proposed rule to establish clear, enforceable “public charge” standards that protect American taxpayer funds and ensure any individuals who comes into our nation are self-sufficient and want to live the American dream, not rely on our nation’s safety net programs at the expense of the American taxpayer. In 2022, the Biden administration revised President Trump’s actions, narrowing the definition of a “public charge,” allowing illegal immigrants to use taxpayer-funded benefits—including most Medicaid benefits, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and vital housing assistance—from consideration in granting permanent residency to aliens.
Senator Rick Scott said, “The Biden administration’s inconsistent and weak enforcement of our border policies and use of taxpayer dollars have allowed illegal aliens to drain taxpayer resources while crime surged. The Public Charge Clarification Act codifies President Trump’s effort to provide clear and fair standards, strengthens accountability to safeguard the opportunity of living the American Dream for those who come ready to work and succeed.”
