There are some things that should just be common sense.
If someone is driving an 80,000-pound commercial truck on American highways, they should at least be able to read the road signs in English.
But when people bypass our immigration laws and get behind the wheel of vehicles that large without meeting basic standards, it becomes a serious public safety issue.
And it’s happening far too often.
American taxpayers pay to build and maintain our roads. At the very least, they deserve to know the driver in the next lane has been properly vetted, properly trained and legally authorized to be there.
But this issue isn’t just about safety. It’s about putting American workers first.
Too often, Americans are pushed aside while people who shouldn’t be here in the first place are allowed to take those opportunities.
