Sens. Rick Scott, Ted Cruz, and Thom Tillis Lead Bill to Require American Flags Be Made in America

Senator Rick Scott joined Senators Ted Cruz and Thom Tillis to announce the introduction of the Make American Flags in America Act to ensure all American flags displayed by a federal agency and purchased using U.S. tax dollars are made in America. The bill also closes a loophole used by Chinese manufactures to make and sell American flags that are fraudulently labeled as American-made.

Senator Rick Scott said: “The American flag represents the pride and joy of being an American and the very values of a nation founded upon freedom, democracy and the American dream. Producing an American flag is a privilege that should only be granted to our fellow Americans who believe in the values it represents, not nations like Communist China who seek to destroy the American way of life. Our bill preserves and protects the pride of American-made products and the patriotism of the flag and nation we love. I urge my colleagues to support its quick passage.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sens. Kennedy and Schmitt to Introduce Bill to Teach Students the Dangers of Communism

Senator Rick Scott joined Senator John Kennedy and Senator Eric Schmitt in introducing the Crucial Communism Teaching Act to help educate students about the history and dangers of communism. Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar introduced the companion bill in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “For families across America, particularly many in Florida, America shines as a beacon of freedom and democracy, standing in stark contrast to the communist regimes that once stripped them of their basic freedoms and liberties. For decades, the left has worked to promote failed socialist and communist ideologies that go against the very values we and President Trump are fighting so hard to protect. Our bill, the Crucial Communism Teaching Act, will provide schools with necessary resources to educate our future generations about the dangers of communism, helping to preserve the freedoms and principles that define our nation.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Colleagues in Bill to Stop Communist China’s Forced Organ Harvesting and Human Rights Abuses

Senator Rick Scott joined colleagues in announcing the reintroduction of the Falun Gong Protection Act. This legislation seeks to impose sanctions on individuals responsible for or complicit with Forced Organ Harvesting, especially those targeting Falun Gong practitioners. This bill also requires the Secretary of State to report to Congress on organ transplant policies and practices of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and prohibits U.S. collaboration with the CCP on organ transplants while China’s evil regime remains in power.

Senator Rick Scott said: “The Chinese Communist Party is one of the worst human rights abusers in the world, made clear by its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and forced removal of organs. The United States and every freedom-loving nation must take a stand and demand accountability for those responsible for this religious persecution and forced organ harvesting, and work to put an end to Communist China's blatant human rights violations. I’m proud to join my colleagues on this legislation as a critical call to action against the Communist Chinese regime.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sen. Marsha Blackburn and Colleagues in Introducing WHO is Accountable Act

Senator Rick Scott joined Senators Marsha Blackburn, John Barrasso and Ted Cruz to introduce the WHO is Accountable Act. This legislation follows President Trump’s executive order to remove the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), and prevents the United States from rejoining the WHO until clear and transparent accountability reforms are taken by the organization for its actions in caving to the interests of the Chinese Communist Party at the expense of the United States. Congressman Jodey Arrington is leading this companion legislation in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “I'm glad to see President Trump demanding accountability from the WHO by withdrawing federal funds and U.S. membership, which is long overdue. This is an organization that clearly doesn't care about American families, evidenced by working hand-in-hand with the Chinese Communist Party to cover up COVID, putting Americans' lives at risk. Our bill will make clear the United States will not rejoin or commit tax dollars to the corrupt WHO until we are certain it aligns with America's interests over Communist China's."

Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to the Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer, expressing his support for the Trump administration’s efforts to make U.S. trade deals beneficial to the United States while countering threats from Communist China, a U.S. adversary, which the Senator notes is necessary to protect national security and economic stability. To build on these efforts, Senator Scott is recommending several steps the administration can take next to strengthen our supply chains, enforce our trade laws, protect domestic producers from unfair competition and Make America Great Again.

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sens. Budd and Kelly to Introduce Bill Protecting America’s Strategic Maritime Ports from Chinese Influence

Senator Rick Scott joined Senators Ted Budd and Mark Kelly to introduce the Strategic Ports Reporting Act aimed at stopping the threat of the Chinese Communist Party from expanding and establishing its global maritime network at ports critical to the United States’ national and economic security. As multiple Chinese companies possess ownership shares in key ports around the world and control significant portions of the maritime industry both in the U.S. and globally, this legislation would mandate that the Departments of Defense and State and relevant government agencies assess and report on the Chinese Communist Party’s activities, develop a comprehensive assessment of ports that are crucial to America and its allies and potential vulnerabilities of U.S. ports and interests.
Senator Rick Scott said: “The Chinese Communist Party’s increasing influence over global trade routes and strategic infrastructure poses a direct threat to the United States’ national security and economic stability. From the Panama Canal to ports across the world, Communist China is working to grow its economic and military presence to threaten and undermine American interests. The United States must respond decisively and accordingly to eliminate any influence or access Communist China has to the critical infrastructure of the U.S. and its allies that may be used against us. The Strategic Ports Reporting Act is a crucial step to safeguarding critical ports and securing our supply chains, and protecting our national security.”

Sen. Rick Scott Joins Sen. Josh Hawley to Block Agencies from Partnering with Pro-CCP Consulting Firms

Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Josh Hawley to reintroduce their legislation to prohibit the Department of Defense and other federal agencies from contracting with consulting firms that provide services to the Chinese government or its affiliates while being contracted by the United States government. The Time to Choose Act would force these firms to choose whether to stand with the U.S. in its efforts to protect America against China’s global ambitions, or forfeit U.S. government contracts entirely. This bipartisan legislation passed the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee with strong bipartisan support in the 118th Congress. Senator Gary Peters is also an original cosponsor.

Senator Rick Scott said: “Any firm who wants to help, support or represent Communist China’s best interests clearly is choosing to work against America’s best interests and choosing to forfeit access to federal tax dollars. It’s a clear conflict of interest. The Chinese Communist Party is one of our greatest adversaries, hellbent on destroying our way of life, crippling our industries and spying on our citizens. Our bill, the Time to Choose Act, requires firms to make a choice: support the freedom-loving United States or support the regime in Communist China. There’s no in between.”

Sen. Rick Scott Announces Bill to Reinstate President Trump’s CCP Initiative

Senator Rick Scott announced the reintroduction of his Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act to reinstate and codify President Trump’s CCP Initiative under the Department of Justice (DOJ) to prevent spying from the Chinese Communist Party on U.S. intellectual property and academic institutions. This program will protect America’s best interests by countering threats to the United States, combatting Communist China’s attempts to steal U.S. trade secrets and intellectual property, and protect our critical infrastructure and supply chains from foreign investments.

Senator Rick Scott said: “The Chinese Communist Party is one of the greatest threats to America’s national security and way of life as it seeks global domination by any means necessary. President Joe Biden recklessly ended the China Initiative that President Trump established during his first term, turning a blind eye as Communist China committed at least 60 known cases of espionage on the United States and our citizens during his administration. Now, President Trump is back in action to hold Communist China fully accountable for its exploitation of the United States. Our bill, the Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act, will bring back the successful CCP Initiative to help President Trump face this threat head-on and Make America Safe Again.”

Sen. Rick Scott Introduces Bill to End Reliance on Chinese-Made Batteries, Support American Supply Chains

Senators Rick Scott and Maggie Hassan introduced the Decoupling from Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act to reduce American reliance on Chinese-made batteries and address the national security concerns regarding cybersecurity, supply chain disruptions, and domestic manufacturing of this technology. Specifically, this legislation would prohibit the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from procuring batteries from six specific companies owned and operated in Communist China. Congressman Carlos Gimenez is leading this legislation in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said, “America is entering its Golden Age with President Trump back in the White House, and that means prioritizing American manufacturing and self-reliance. Communist China is doing everything it can to achieve global dominance and is willing to harm Americans and businesses, manipulate our supply chains and breach our cybersecurity in the process. With our nation currently sourcing a majority of its batteries from Chinese-linked manufacturers, we’re subject to a major, unnecessary risk to our national security. I am proud to introduce the Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act to help secure our national security and take a stand against Communist China looking to take advantage of American consumers. I look forward to this critical legislation becoming law.”

Sen. Rick Scott Leads Bill to Stop Communist China from Getting U.S. Tax Credits

Senator Rick Scott led his colleagues, Senators Jim Banks and Pete Ricketts, to introduce the No Official Giveaways Of Taxpayers’ Income to Oppressive Nations (NO GOTION) Act. The legislation would prohibit companies affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from qualifying for green energy production tax credits put in place by the Biden-era Inflation Reduction Act. Chairman John Moolenaar and Representatives Darin LaHood and Jared Golden are leading this bipartisan effort in the House of Representatives.

Senator Rick Scott said: “U.S. adversaries shouldn’t be allowed to benefit off American taxpayer dollars with incentives meant to build American businesses. Americans elected us to represent their best interests, and I’m proud to do that with our NO GOTION Act to crack down on companies owned by our adversaries attempting to take advantage of U.S. tax privileges.”
