Hurricane Season is Here—Are You Ready, Stuart?

As hurricane season arrives, the City of Stuart urges all residents to take a few simple but vital steps to protect their families and pets.
Be sure to stock up on at least seven days’ worth of food and water for every person and pet in your household. Don’t forget other essentials like medications, batteries, flashlights, and pet supplies.
A good rule of thumb: one gallon of water per person, per day. Keep non-perishable food items handy, and rotate them regularly to stay fresh.
Hurricanes can disrupt power, water, and access to stores—being prepared means staying safe and comfortable during and after the storm.
Stay informed, stay connected, and most importantly—be prepared. For more resources and updates, visit City of Stuart’s emergency management page.
Let’s weather the season together, Stuart!

Reminder: Fertilizer Ban in Effect June 1—November 30

The City of Stuart reminds all residents that the seasonal fertilizer ban is in effect from June 1 through November 30. During this time, fertilizers containing nitrogen or phosphorus may not be applied to lawns or landscaping.
Why the ban? It’s all about protecting our local waterways. Heavy summer rains can wash excess fertilizer into the St. Lucie River and Indian River Lagoon, contributing to harmful algal blooms that threaten marine life, water quality, and public health.
Additionally, remember grass clipping, leaves, or other vegetative materials should not be washed, swept, or blown into stormwater drains, water bodies, or impervious areas.
Do your part by choosing Florida-friendly landscaping, maintaining healthy turf, and using only approved products during the dry season. Together, we can keep our waterways clean and our community thriving.
