New Driver’s Education course required for students under 18
 

  • Effective July 1, 2025, Florida Statute 322.095 and 322.1615 will change Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course requirements for students under 18 years old.
 
  • Students under 18 years old will need to complete a new six (6) hour Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course.
 
  • Students under 18 years old who completed a TLSAE course prior to July 1, 2025 may still use their TLSAE course completion certificate until it expires.
 
 
  • Anyone age 14 or over who completes TLSAE BEFORE July 1, 2025 will have up to one year to use the TLSAE credit to obtain their driver license.
