Stuart, FL – The Florida Department of Education has released spring 2025 assessment results, and the Martin County School District (MCSD) is celebrating a standout year of academic achievement. Students posted gains across multiple subject areas, surpassing state averages and outperforming neighboring school districts.
 
“I am incredibly proud of the work happening in our schools,” Superintendent Michael Maine said. “These results show that our students are being positioned to thrive, our teachers are delivering high-quality instruction, our staff are supporting areas of need, and our community’s investment in education is paying off in a demonstrable way.”
 
Regional Leader on the Treasure Coast
 
The Martin County School District achieved the highest proficiency rates on the Treasure Coast in Algebra, Geometry, and Writing, demonstrating strong performance in core academic subjects.
 
Compared to neighboring school districts:
 
  • St. Lucie County: MCSD outperformed St. Lucie Public Schools in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, Science, Civics, U.S. History, and Writing
  • Indian River County: MCSD outperformed the School District of Indian River County in Algebra, Geometry, and Writing
  • Palm Beach County: MCSD outperformed the Palm Beach County School District in Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, Civics, and U.S. History
 
Exceeding State Averages
 
MCSD students outpaced Florida state averages in the following areas:
 
  • Mathematics (all grades): 60% proficiency (State: 58%)
  • Algebra: 67% proficiency (State: 60%)
  • Geometry: 60% proficiency (State: 55%)
  • Biology: 75% proficiency (State: 70%)
  • BEST Writing – Level 6 or higher: 86% of students (State: 82%)
  • BEST Writing – Level 7 or higher: 31% of students (State: 28%)
 
Continued Academic Growth
 
In addition to outperforming the state and neighboring districts in many key areas, MCSD achieved the following year-over-year gains:
 
  • Grades 3-5 Math: Increased from 61% to 62%
  • Grades 6–8 Math: Increased from 57% to 63%
  • Algebra: Increased from 57% to 67%
  • Geometry: Increased from 55% to 60%
  • ELA (all grades): Increased from 52% to 55%
  • Grades 6–8 ELA: Increased from 48% to 55%
  • Grades 9–10 ELA: Increased from 52% to 56%
  • Biology: Increased from 68% to 75%
 
“These results highlight the academic and student-focused momentum we’re building in Martin County,” Superintendent Maine added. “We take tremendous pride in not only improving each year, but also leading our region and setting an undeniable example of what is possible in public education.”
 
The Florida Department of Education is expected to issue school and district grades for the 2025-2026 school year in the coming weeks.
