SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AND RECENT GRADS

Joseph -
Across the country, business owners are struggling to find skilled workers, even though there are plenty of qualified candidates who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. That’s why, tonight, I voted to pass common-sense legislation that will help connect more Career and Technical Education (CTE) graduates with small business job opportunities. The Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act of 2025, also goes one step further by supporting Women’s Business Centers (WBC) by equipping women-owned small businesses with training resources.

This legislation solves that problem through connecting eager graduates with hiring managers. We've seen success with these programs right here in Florida’s 21st congressional district, with high school CTE programs providing graduates with industry-recognized certificates, work-based learning, and college credits. But we need to be giving these opportunities to students across the country.

By giving Small Business Development Centers and Women’s Business Centers clearer direction to match graduates with business needs, we’re easing the transition from training to employment— without any of the unnecessary bureaucratic overreach.

Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and as your representative, I continue to work towards renewing the American dream. That means a prosperous economy and more opportunities for all.
