The August 2025 edition of research Florida By The Numbers is now available. Florida Chamber Foundation Senior Research Economist Sheridan Morby takes us on a journey through some of the recently released Florida 2030 Blueprint metrics impacting Florida's future as a top-10 global economy. |
Some of the metrics in this update include:
- From the Talent Supply & Education Pillar:
- Florida’s labor market growth outpaced the nation’s in the past year, adding over 134,000 jobs–a 1.3% annual growth, compared to 1.0% nationally.
- Florida is currently creating 1 in every 12 new U.S. jobs annually.
- Florida’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.7% in July, with 103 Floridians seeking work for every 100 open jobs.
- One of the ways the Florida Chamber Foundation is addressing the talent shortage is encouraging business and education partnerships aimed at closing math proficiency skill gaps. - From the Business Climate & Competitiveness Pillar:
- The inflation rate held steady at 2.7% in July.
- The Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates for the first time this year in September, but ongoing uncertainty around national policies makes the path forward unclear.
- From the Infrastructure & Growth Leadership Pillar:
- The median home listing price is currently $435,000 in Florida, down slightly since last month but relatively steady across most counties.
