I was back in Washington for another busy week of votes. In the House of Representatives, we passed legislation to avoid a federal shutdown at the end of September when the fiscal year ends. The temporary continuing resolution we sent to the President keeps the lights on through December 11th to give the Senate more time to consider each of the twelve appropriations bills. The House did its work—all twelve bills came out of committee back in June—now it's the Senate's turn to finish the job.
I also introduced the Freedom Haulers Act earlier this summer after the Department of Transportation announced the cancellation of tens of thousands of improperly issued commercial driver’s licenses. I introduced the bill because I can't think of anyone better to take on these roles than the men and women who ran convoys through combat zones, America’s veterans.
