Equipment Operator 1 - Turf & Grounds

Under general supervision of the Public Works Director or Team Leader III, operates a variety of tools, automotive vehicles, light and moderately heavy equipment in the maintenance of grounds, streets and other city property as designated. Will include operation of bucket truck with a 65’ vertical boom reach.  This is a safety-sensitive position requiring screening for illegal substance and alcohol use.  Work is reviewed through observation upon work completion for compliance with work orders and established policies and procedures. Performs other work as requested.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.   Operates a wide range of vehicles including but not limited to, front loaders, backhoes, bush hogs, trucks, trailers, tractors, bucket truck, dump truck, and genie lift.
 
2.   Trims vegetation for assigned parks; mows, trims, edges and maintains parks.
 
3.   Operates a variety of power and hand tools including mowers, weed eaters, shovels, rakes, pokers, all size chainsaws, and paint machines.
 
4.   Picks up debris and deceased animals from city streets in order to maintain the cleanliness of public areas.
